Hi. This is my first post. I recently purchased my 73 f250 camper special. It has an fe360, and a granny gear warner t-18. I have seen posts on automatic trannys swaps, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on an overdrive manual I can swap with minimal hassle.
I don't think there are any factory installed overdrive transmissions that will bolt up to an FE. You could try searching for a used GearVendors OD unit.
Your best bet would be a gear vendors. The bolt patterns on FE blocks don't fit OD transmissions without adapter plates.
I think the statement above is generalizing based on automatics...Manual trannies bolt to a bellhousing.. not the block.
For clarification, a Tremec TKO can bolt to the stock bell with no adapter plate (see the pic above!) but a short input shaft is required. An adapter plate is required between the bell and TKO if opting for a long shaft version.

Yes that is what I meant. For some reason I thought the OP was wanting to know about auto transmission swaps.
I've read that an NV4500 from a Dodge pickup (Gas engine) can be made to work with the top loader 4spd bell housing that came on the t18-t19 etc transmissions that came in these trucks.

The Ford issued MTs, the Mazda and ZF, are integral bell transmissions. As such, no bolt 'em to FE without adapter.
