Ok so first off my computer is down so I'm using my phone and it won't let me use the search function on this forum for some reason. So that being said, no I haven't searched for it lol I would love to but I can't at the moment. Ok on to my question....
I just recently purchased a 1950 F1, it only has the front leaf springs and the I-beam. I want to keep the suspension stock on this truck but finding parts in my area is next to impossible. I have a 1954 complete rolling chassis, I know it's wider but would the parts from the 54 I-beam fit and work on the 50 I-beam???? I was looking in parts catalogs and notice a good bit of the parts work from 48-52 but I can't find if the spindles are the same or not... any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Pretty much all of the major front suspension components are different between the 48-52's and the 53-56 trucks. Axles, spindles, hubs, springs, etc., do not interchange.

They are completely different.I am very close to removing the complete front suspension and steering from my 52. I'm a long way from you though.
Well there went that idea lol I found a guy local to me that has a 49 f1 rolling chassis but he doesn't want to let go of it yet. It's been sitting for 20+ years in his barn. I'm waiting on the day he calls lol. Thanks for the replies 52 merc and Rimrock F1
I'm looking constantly lol every time I get on Craigslist I search for it in my state and all surrounding because for the right parts and price I'll drive to get them lol
That chassis is obviously missing the front crossmember, which I'm sure you realize, but just wanted to point it out. It think it is amazing that the front gravel pan (or whatever they call it) is laying there. Honestly, almost every F-1 owner on the planet tossed theirs years ago. Mine is hanging on my garage wall.
Just a reminder, If you change the frame you loose the matching serial number stamped on the frame that should match your vin tag on your cowl. Some states consider the frame number as the legal registration. Not trying to talk you out of anything , just some food for thought. Some one else may chime in on this.
I'm just using this one for the parts I need. My frame is cleaner and not as rusty as this one but this one has all the parts I'm missing on mine. Thanks for the heads up though because I did forget the Vin was stamped in these frames too
