Ok I got a question that is knawing at me. I would like to put a digital heat/AC panel in a 1966 F-250. (Like one say out of a Lincoln) Is it possible? Would the cost be too much? what would be involved?
Wow! That is impressive. I was just kinda hoping I could get some kind of guestament. My friends tell me something like that would take around 8 grand to build. Because of the computer...etc.
I thought I could get the actual plumbing from someplace like classic aire and then (Somehow) plumb in the digital display. I know vitrually nothing about vehicles with computers in them.
The A/C control is totally independent of anything else (except 12V power), so look at it like adding a set of driving lights. You just have to wire it in. Then think about building a plastic model that has moving parts - if they're not the right shape, you trim them to fit inside your dash. Remember: the longest journey begins with a single step.
I think it all depends on what you want, and what your willing to settle for. I'm married, so I answer to a higher power. If I even mentioned 8 g's to my wife, that single step begining the longest journey would also be the quickest journey, 'cause it'd be off a 200 ft. cliff.
I guess I am lucky. I had my noose cut a few years ago. I only answer to one high power now. My checkbook For some reason I really don't believe something like that would cost 8 grand.
Bikeitswift= I checked out Dakota digital. I had planned on using their instruments for speedo, gas guage...etc But I didn't see any heat/AC controls. I figure I will have to find a Lincoln, Crown victoria donor.
I think a call to Dakota might be worth the fiveminutes it takes. Geez, they're now showing a digital readout of the air pressure at each wheel for air-riders, no telling what they have lurking in their shop that hasn't made it to the catalog. Your control quest makes a lot of sense, and it sure seems like they would be able to produce it.
