First just want to say that i'm a newbie here. Just a 17 yr. old girl that tears her '97 Ranger XL thru mud with her ranger mudding buddies. (sounds pathetic i kno, but there's 3 of us with rangers)
Yesterday, i had a friend take off my front bumper. It was just hanging there, and it was going to fall off eventually. It's only 2WD but i take it mudding out alot so i know that by taking the bumper off that i gain more ground clearance, but someone told me i'd also gain like 5HP because of aerodynamics. Somehow i just dont think this is true. i'd understand if it was a spoiler or wing, or something, but just taking the bumper off there's just no way i could gain 5HP? So what i'm wondering is, is somebody telling me stuff in a lame way to make me think they know stuff or is this actually true?
ya, that's exactly what i thought. how someone could think that is beyond me. as far as weight, the bumper only weighed maybe 3-4lbs. but less weight is better even if its that much. i just might be able to get through 'sugar sand' now..heh, just kidding.
Thank You, there is a lot of information here that would be very useful for me since it's coming from other Ford people. Is there anybody here that takes their truck off-road?
