Need some advice

Going to "chop the top" on one of my '48's. Looking advice/pointers from those that have successfully completed this task. Where to cut. How much to cut. Any help is greatly appreciated. Want to maybe start on it next week. Going to be my new "mud" truck.

If you check my Gallery you will see how I chopped my 48. I have more pictures if you want.

I want to take about 4" out, mail slot rear window, the works. Having 2 cabs is almost a necessity isn't it? Makes it a lot easier to section the top.

Nicely done! The proportions are not odd at all as some chops are that I have seen. I also like your front wheels and front hood hinges. Can you tell me where you got them.

Thanks for the nice comment. The front wheels came with the front IRS when I pulled it from the Bone yard. They are XJ6 Jag wheels and I'm using them as rollers. I will be running American Racing Torque Thrust wheels when finished. The front hood hinges I made.

Man, I would like to get the kind of access to the engine compartment on my 49 F1 that your hinges provide. Do you have pics/dimensions of the components and especially those "horns" that the rear of the hood rests on?

Here are some finished pictures.

This is the diagram that I made to tweek the fitting. I made many modifications before getting it "right" , patience is a virtue. The locking ramps are attached to the old hood spring mount holes on the firewall.
