glad hands
I just bought a set of glad hands and the emergency/supply glad hand will not work on my old trailer. There is a nub on the emergency that is not on the control glad hand and that nub keeps the hands from mating. All the pictures I can find show the nub on the red hand and no nub on the blue. I would like to know why the change and when.

Most likely the reasoning behind this was that in addition to the color, having the two not compatible also help to avoid switching the glad hands.
Can't tell you when it occurred, we have nothing older that 20 years or so, and they are all the newer style.
Luckily it is not that big of thing, glad hands are cheap and easy to replace on any trailer or truck that I have been around.
