Project Turdster Update

Okay, for those who dunno (even though I'm sure everyone knows) here's a quick background story on what's going on...

A few weeks ago I overheated because I accidently left my pressure cap off one morning. Ever since then water has been getting into my oil. A neighbor recently told me about this stuff called "K&W Stop Leak" which is a block sealer for engine blocks, heads, gaskets, radiator, etc, and it's a metallic liquid whatever stuff that supposedly permanently clogs the leak.

ANYWAY....

Today we flushed the cooling system to get the excess K&W gunk out of the system. After all the water dripped, we proceeded to fill the radiator with Prestone coolant and water, opened the thermostat, filled it some more, and let it run for about, oh say, 20-30 minutes. Constantly checked the temperature, and it stayed around 135-140 the whole time. No white smoke out the exhaust either. No strange noises, oil pressure went down to its norm like before the breakdown. Shut it off. Right now we're waiting for the engine to cool for a couple of hours, and then we're gonna go back and start it up. This is when we'll know if the coolant got into the oil or whatever because the exhaust will blow the infamous white smoke. It didn't before because I had been running straight water (because I already had a coolant leak, just not into the oil), so, we're just crossing our fingers and hoping in a couple of hours it'll be fine.

I don't feel like having to buy a new engine right now, honestly.........

Okay, we just went outside and pulled the dipstick. Even though it hasn't all dripped down into the pan yet, we got some oil on it, and it looks pretty CLEAN! Once the pressure goes down some in the radiator we're gonna check the coolant level, and in a couple of hours from now we're gonna start it and probably drive it around.

Okay, just got back from a test drive. Before the test drive we checked the coolant level, and it was at the top, full, unlike the rest of the time I've owned the vehicle. Went and drove it. Went to the next town, turned around, and came back. No smoke, no oil pressure problems, engine ran cool. Pulled the dipstick...

CLEAN!

So now we're just gonna see how it ends up later this week!

Hey it's good to hear good news, I hope things continue to go well and your dipstick looks clean at the end of the week.

Thanks peeps.... I just went and checked it about 10 or 20 minutes ago after the oil all drained down and the pressure in the coolant went down, and it's all still the same, so all's still going good.

With all my problems I've been having, thanks everyone!

Okay, I think the Turdster is pretty much alive again. I took it out for a quick drive again through the neighborhood to go take the garbage to the dump and get the mail. Came back, waited a bit, went and checked, clean oil.

If you guys run into a problem like I had, I got K&W Stop Leak at AutoZone for $7.
