Hello everyone my names dave. new to the site. this actually my first post. I have a 1988 f150 302 5.0. yesterday I noticed there was no vacuum hose coming from the egr valve. after doing some more looking around I noticed my truck doesn't have a vacuum solenoid (I believe it called the evr) not a problem I can go buy one. my problem is there is no where to mount the evr. I think im missing something else. please help. not very mechanically inclined but I do know a thing or 2. this though I am completely lost.
Don't know how much this picture will help, but this is my 91. It has a bracket to the left of the ignition coil that holds the EVR and Thermactor solenoids.
You can see where the EVR mounts to the front of the bracket with it's vacuum connections at the bottom.
The bracket has two small studs that mount the EVR with nuts.
Here is a locations picture from the manual also. It is up near the top of the picture.
Your 88 may differ a bit, but hopefully this is some help.
thanks you. I really appreciate it. I plan on replacing all the vacuum lines with rubber hoses. the previous owner has the lines going all over the place. so I will definitely make sure I do one at a time. I am also having trouble finding those tad/tab solenoids. Can only order from ford?
Yeah, I replaced all mine with rubber hoses not too long ago.
I also looked around and couldn't seem to find the solenoids online for sale. You can always try the dealer, but I wouldn't expect them to have them. You never know though. You may end up going to the junk yard.
Here's a couple more pics I shot of it. May be of some help.
Hopefully you don't run in to too many more problems. It's strange that all that stuff is gone. Maybe the PO was trying to remove the emissions gear. Some folks do.
