They were no deforester vents on my truck when I got it. I bought 2 used ones and I can not figure how they bolt on. There are 2 screw holes (1 on each end ) but I can not find a place around the dash vents for a screw to go into. Does any one have a picture or any way to help me install them
It would help greatly if you added the year and model truck you have/are asking about either to your question or better yet go into control panel and add it in the signature pane, then it will appear in every post you make. The defroster vents are different in the various years, are you certain you have the right ones? On my 56 if I take off the air deflector strip on top the dashboard I can see the two tabs on the dash with holes the vents screw to.
Like Hillbilly Bob says there should be an indentation at either end of the vent slot on the top of the dash. You will need to drill a 3/16" hole at those locations then put ⅛" phillips-head sheet metal screws through those holes and screw them into the corresponding holes in the defroster ducts. Clearance is pretty tight so you may have to pull the windshield to drill the holes depending on the size of your drill. Later models used a foam gasket between the duct body and the dash (see pix). It is not a bad idea to use them to improve flow through the ducts to the windshield,
