Its either a hyd or mechanical problem. When you first push on the pedal does the slave move? How far does the pedal go down until the slave starts to move? Should move right off the start. If not its the master slave system if it does then its most likely clutch mechanics. Of course the first inch or so is usually dead...
youll have to get help under the truck

There is a TSB out for this type of problem. It is TSB 99-1-6. The wording in the TSB reads that it only applies to the 99's and that the offending part was redesigned for 2000 and up.

I had the exact symptoms that you are experiencing and had the master/slave unit replaced. After 40,000 miles, I have not experienced any more problems with the clutch. The only problem that I had was that the TSB was only for the diesel engines and not the V-10. I had to eat the repair bill myself.

You said that your master/slave unit has been replaced twice. After each replacement did the low pressure start immediately or was there a period of time when it worked as advertised and then the problem returned? Seems like it would be really bad odds on getting two bad master/slave units back-to-back, but then stranger things have happened...

Oh well, I hope you can get it diagnosed and fixed soon.

Best regards,

Jeff

Be glad you've got a 2000! On my 1994, I had to pull the transmission and transfer case just to replace the slave cylinder. Man the was a poor design!

Thanks everyone for the replies.
When first installed it works fine. About 3 months have gone by and i'm starting to have to push pedal farther down to be able to shift. I love the Truck, but the next time i bring it into Ford for repair will be the last time, and maybe the last Ford for me. Dealers seem to be inadequate, i asked them if i should bring it to Chevy dealership to see if they can repair it. Sorry, just venting.

I had the same problem with my 2001 Super duty powerstroke 4x4 but the pedal would not come back up. The dealership replaced the clutch, did not fix it. The slave and that did not fix it. Finally they changed the master and hose. Fix it. The truck was not under warrenty but they did it anyway. That was cool.
