Okay, I have a 1999 5.4L expedition and started getting a coolant leak at the top rear of the engine area. The mechanic has discovered that there is a small crack in a metal peice where the coolant runs past the CPV valve in the throttle body adapter. I have not made it over there to see the part myself, but he was unable to tell me the part name or number for sure.
Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? Can anyone help me find the part number, or the part? The Ford dealer in town wants to charge $900 for the whole thing, but surely I can find an aftermarket or take-off part for this.
On my 1997 4.6 the heater tube went. It's part # 626-229. The part is a $20 part but is a lot of work to replace. That's why the dealerships charge so much. I've seen quotes as high as $1600. You have to remove the intake manifold to remove the old part and replace it with the new. On an older vehicle such as ours, other things will break along the way to fixing your problem. Mine looks like an L shaped thin walled steel or aluminum tube.
I ordered it through Amazon because none of the wrecker yards nearby were responsive. One claimed to not have it after checking, and one said they'd check their core pile, but then said no, and none of the others I called would even get back to me.
Just one of the hose attachments pressed into it was cracked and too corroded to be brazed back together.
New part should last longer though, huh? I keep telling myself that.

Thanks guys!
When i pulled that part off of my '98 4.6 L., the EGR passages were caked solid with soot/crud. Had the consistency of charcoal.
