Food fascinates me, the trends, the equipment and the style of cuisine. I've been carrying mail for the last nine years but I have about 26 years for food service experience between my wonderful Coast Guard career and my civilian life before and after.
I have run Officer Clubs, family restaurants, I've prepared food and overseen the preparation of food for members of congress, high ranking military members and most importantly, us working folks.
I've enjoyed the benefits of some expanded training at the Culinary Institute of America and many other military schools and military contract schools.
My palate is fairly sophisticated but my primary interest is cooking regular food for regular folks. It brings me satisfaction to watch people enjoy what they eat.
So, with my limited poll, I want you all to chime in and tell us what your favorite style of food is and in the comments section, tell us what you'd be willing to pay for such a dish in a restaurant.
Sorry man I am a meat and potatoes kinds guy, fine cuisine I know nothing about, pot roast with potatoes and carrots all cooked together, meatloaf that's just fine with me. Sorry no help here
I am a connoisseur of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. There are plenty of opportunities to explore this delicacy in Dallas, TX.
As luck would have it, my 22 year old daughter makes some of the best. But, A#1 on my list, from a retail standpoint, is a restaurant called BABE'S here in Dallas. The gravy is to die for....but, it is outstanding.
We do eat a lot of chicken...about any way it can be fixed and mixed.
Although, there's 'something' in that poll, that when I selected all of the choices, and hit the 'vote now' button, I got a 'pop-up' on my screen that said,
This morning I had a homemade breakfast tortilla with eggs, bacon, sausage & cheese. When I got to the office I chased it with a chocolate covered Duncan Donut.
