Hope someone can help me here. My hydrovac unit needs replacing but I am having a hard time finding one. I did replace the master cylinder a year ago ($300). (ouch) Now the only hydrovac available from NAPA has a slave unit attached to it but no master cylinder and doesn't look anything like the one I have on the truck. Truck is a 1966 N-600 made in December 1965 (Thank You Bill). Anybody have any ideas on this? Thanks, Greg.

Having a hard time on "Napa's has a slave / but no master cylinder)??
Are you saying your N-600 has the master cyl .mounted to the booster and
the assembly is mounted on the firewall like a pickup?? If so, thats a little
tough one. example my 65 F350 (mounted that way) the booster took a
dump I searched the planet with no avail as they don't exist. What I did
was to gut the booster and only use that for a mount for the master. Then
got a Napa bendix booster chassis mount (generic) and plumbed it in.
end of that problem my only way out. As far as Napa, my Napa has a
brake bible, with hundreds of pics & styles of boosters. The one I choose
is for generally a F5-F600 for around $180 new not rebuilt.
made a bracket drilled some holes, more brake line and added vaccuum
to it. done. Fastest way out.
Yea, I got a little confused, I guess the unit is not a hydravac per se, the master cylinder does bolt to the power assist unit on the firewall. I think the booster is a 9 or 9 1/2" unit. Was told the booster is no longer available from NAPA. I do have another booster I bought on E-BAY a year ago and it has a sticker saying REMAN by Ford. M-29. It looks completely different then my booster on the truck and it has no provision to bolt on the bracket. Maybe I can get a pic of it and post it here. After looking and some previous post, I saw a post about Vehicles of Victory and there was a picture of a Bendix Hydro -Vac that looked similar to the unit I purchased on E-BAY. I will consult with Bill to see if this will work and if not, will purchase one from Bill's sources who has them available.

Reason: More Info
There is no dash (firewall) booster listed for a 1965/68 N500/600 with a gas engine. It's possible the truck did not come with power brakes and someone swapped a dash mounted booster from an F500/600.
And, a dash mounted booster/master cylinder combination is not a Hydro-Vac.
That explains a lot Bill, this thing doesn't stop very well and something about it does not look original. Will buy frame mounted Hydra-Vac and install. Thanks for your insight again.
