Has anybody used this product (Block Chek)? I've got 100K on my 2003 6.0L and am working through any remaining latent issues so it will last me a long time. I am wondering about the health of my head gaskets. I have been running a tow tune from Innovative for about 70K miles now. The only possible symptom of a head gasket problem is a very slight amount of coolant residue around the cap when I run the truck on a 95 degree day. I don't lose coolant or blow white smoke, and my EGR cooler is new. The coolant cap is new as well, and I installed the Bulletproof oil cooler earlier this year.
So I ran the Block Chek today, which consists of idling the engine hot with a baster-like device breathing in fumes from the coolant reservoir. The baster device is filled with a blue fluid which reacts with exhaust gases and turns yellow if they are present. I do see a color change; the fluid turns from a sapphire blue to an emerald green.
I would be interested to hear your opinions on this color change...they say to expect a yellow-green if there are exhaust gases in the coolant. I don't see yellow-green, and I wonder if it is normal to see some color change for a diesel.
