I have a 2001 Escape 3.0l with automatic 4wd. Yesterday morning my young lad went to take it to work. When he put it in reverse he said it was jerking when he moved, and did the same thing when he went ahead to park it. Strange part is I had it out an hour earlier and it worked fine. When I checked it out it went into gear fine and moved back and forth smooth, except it had quite a grinding noise in it , something like metal to metal brakes, but they are all ok. Could this be the steady bearing on the driveshaft? Thanks
