Maintaining Dually tire air pressure

On my F350 dually I can't get the truck tire guage to work properly and I also can't add air with the compressor that I bought even though the air chuck is made to add air to valve stems facing either direction. Of course I am only having problem with the dual tires. Should I buy the valve extenders which I read negative comments about or go looking for a new air guage and air chuck.

Are you having an angle problem? As in the angle of the chuck is wrong for reaching the inner valve stem? If this is the glitch, go by a truck stop, they sell chucks that will work for you. Below is an example of what I use.
