I got an 89 f-250 4x4 5 speed 460 and ive seen some chips for sale on the net and whatnot (such as the jet performance its like 230 bux) but just wanted to get some opinions on their effectiveness and what they do to these earlier model EFI 460 computers. Ive never really talked with anybody who has used one. Is it worth the investment or is it just garbage? from what i read about these batch fired speed density EFI 460s doesnt seem like you can do much with the computer setup. Btw this is my first EFI truck ive ever owned and worked on for myself so i do not know much about these computerized contraptions.if i had the money i would probly just get new heads, cam and throw and intake and carb on it haha
thanks
From an engine performance standpoint it's a complete waste of money, you can get the same gains just by advancing the timing a few degrees. In general unless the engine has forced induction meaning a turbo or supercharger a chip does little but lighten your wallet.
