my puzzle

ok have an up date with this truck found a snapon scanner over the weekend and the codes that I got was P0603 and P0236 and friend said the map sensor is reading cause it changing while cranking and I also ordered the blue tooth code reader from the link u posted
any ideas where to start now I am to be checking all connections
if the map sensor code is on and the parameters r changing wouldn't the mean the the parameters r off ???
I think 170 and went down to around 100 when cranking there was a dot somewhere but the guy was in a rush so no more info is available
and another thing I have replaced 4 injectors, cam driven fuel pump , valve cover gaskets, and new plugs for the vcg and injectors
and nothing has really changed it still runs about the same as it did except I can see a little difference since the new fuel pump

my puzzle

ok I have an update I did get ahold of a snap on scanner over the weekend and the codes that r there r P0603 and P0236 and the code talking about the map sensor while cranking the parameters change while cranking .170 ish and while cranking it drops to around .100 (not sure if the decimal is in the right spot I didn't right it down )
I have read a couple posts and the kam code is the truck batteries being replaced and or the harness being disconnected I have done both

and on another note I did order the blue tooth obd code reader from the link I was given buy you paid a little extra and should have it soon

so my Question is where would you do next what r the next answers do you need to get me moving forward again

The official descriptions for the codes you pulled are:

P0236 Turbo Boost Sensor A Circuit Performance
P0603 Internal Control Module KAM Error

I agree that the KAM error code is probably from having the batteries disconnected.

For the 0236 code, it could be a bad MAP sensor, a hole on the hose leading to it, or it could have been a stored code from running the engine with the MAP sensor unplugged.

The MAP sensor won't show a lot unless you're actually driving the truck and putting enough load on the engine to light the turbo and get it to build some boost. Even if the MAP sensor is bad altogether, that won't make the truck idle funny, let alone act like it's running on one bank of cylinders.

Did you ever pull the IDM and give it the shake test (listening for water inside it)? What about swapping it with the one in the van you mentioned in a previous post? I think that's the next step.

at one time I was cranking it while that vacuum was off for sure because I forgot it but when it started the first time I unhooked the batteries over night to remove the codes

on the idm was not able to switch it out because it was just replaced and they didn't want it to get messed up if it was wiring issue
could I fry then new one if something is messed up
is there another way to check it
and no I didn't shake it going there now to do just that thank you

it was only running on one bank before that the reason I replaced the injectors

I don't think you can fry the IDM, it will shut down one bank if it senses a problem.

If you're concerned that a wiring issue in the truck might fry the IDM from the van, just put the truck's IDM into the van, start it up and see how it runs in the van. If it runs fine, then you're not dealing with a bad IDM...

ok check the year of the van I was hoping to swap the idm out with and its a 2001 is that going to be a problem

looked up the part and it says 94 to 97

but I did find out something else while bank 1 (driverside) is unplugged the engine light never comes on when cranking with it plugged in it does

NO, any year from 94 1/2 to 2003 7.3 will work.

Ok made an obvious difference is there anything other than that would be next to check before I get the idm and on that note is the dealer the best place to get robbed for this gold plated part or is the a better option

Since they're interchangeable '94.5 - '03, your best bet would be to continually check the classifieds here on FTE, and on the other forum sites. Also try Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market, or check eBay, since a LOT of junkyards are selling on eBay these days. Usu. you can find a used one for $100-ish.

Good to hear you're up and working again. Sheesh for that money I think I would look at the Swamps HVHF, or whatever they call it, IDM. I didn't think it was much more than that, but Glenn could probably tell you.

As for the BT and app, I think there are some Android environments available out there for your PC, but I've never tried them. And I bought the full app for $5-6. I think you have to do that to download the "expanded Ford PID list" but I can't recall.
