6.0 4x4 issues

6.0 4x4 issues
so I just bought a 2004 F350 6.0 4x4
got a steal of a deal on the truck, but the truck had some mods that included a lot of under dash wiring "mods" lol
looks like a newer dash was installed, maybe a 2005 or newer, it fits perfect but some of the electrical work was not finished it seems.....so starting with the 4x4 switch.....it never lighted up so I pulled the switch and there is no wire connector going to be back of the bulb....I searched but found nothing that looks like it fits, I could care less about the light I would like it to shift into 4x4.
next I tried the switch but the t-case does not engage in 4x4 high or low.
I pulled the 4 wire pin on the back of the switch, 3 colored wires and one black ground, with the key in the ON position one wire was getting about 6v in the 2wd position, it dropped to about 3v when switched to 4 HI and droped to about 1v when switched to 4 LO
no voltage was coming thru the other two colored wires in any position of the switch.
ive read threads on here to check the relays, anyone have a picture of them and location? read on here that they are drivers side close to firewall.
first new ford here I love the truck but damn do I miss how easy my 77 is to troubleshoot.
