interesting oil change.
I'm no genius when it comes to big block ford engines but.....i went to change the oil in my 84 F150 w/a 460 and the way it is put in there...the oil filter is flush above the crossmember for the motor mounts. in order to change the filter i will need to undo the motor mount and jack up the motor slightly to remove the filter. anyone know if any smaller filters are made so i don't need to go through this everytime i change my oil filter?

The 83-Up factory installed 460's use a 90* adaptor to mount the filter. One of those, or a remote filter setup would probably save you a major headache. You could go to a half size filter(ask for a filter for a 97 F250 4x4 with a 351W) but, I wouldn't downsize my filtering capicity if I could get away without it.

thanks for the replies fellas....i'll see if it'll come out on its own then i'll try a 90 degree piece.
it may be a pain due to the fact that it's not the origional motor that came with the truck.

interesting oil change.
I used a remote mount oil filter set up on my 460 swap. I put the filter mount on the core support on the drivers side.
Very easy to get to. It takes just a bit more oil to fill eveything.
