In doing some maintenance work on my '02 F350 PS I realized that the fitting and coupler for one of the transmission cooler lines where it enters the radiator tank is highly corroded and needs to be replaced. I am not too worried about replacing the line itself but am concerned about getting the fitting out and re-installed on the tank.
I was told by a mechanic friend that the fitting is difficult to get out without breaking it and often results in replacing the radiator. If anybody else has dealt with this or has insights on replacing the fitting I would appreciate any help. Obviously I will be soaking the coupler/fitting joint with rust penetrant for a week or so before attempting anything.
Mine has lots of corrosion and am concerned it could rupture. Afraid of destroying a transmission if it were to happen. Recently had a brake line give way so I am a little gun shy.
