Hey guys, considering a diesel. Been looking for a few months. Reading a lot of posts on this website. Specifics in this one: 3 owners from cali, tranny rebuilt at 250k. Having baby this week so she wants to sell. No knowledge of Engine work. Just maintained regularly. Got her down to $9k. Would love to hear feedback..
It is a nice looking truck for sure. No pics of the engine bay to see some of the obvious stuff. Airbags tells me that it was more than just a MallQueen, so chances are there some serious working miles on that baby. That would not deter me though.
Do you have any experience with the 6.0? Do you have a way to read live data? Scanner of some sort? People on here really like the ScanguageII for a cheap data reader.
After buying my first 6.0 last year there are a couple of things that I would want verified that are specific to the 6.0 motor, in addition to the normal used ford 4x4 stuff.
*FICM voltage 48v
*battery age and voltage
*oil filter, does it have the stock cap still
*upper fuel filter, is it clean looking, or nasty brown? Does it say Motorcraft on it?(You could also check the lower filter, but that might be a bit extreme)
*pull the EGR valve. Is it all blocked up, deleted, or showing coolant?
*degas bottle, what coolant is in there? Is it red, green, "gold", or (god forbid) just water?
*is the truck tuned, if so, does the tuner come with it?
*is there a maintenance history with some receipts for the big stuff?
The list goes on, but this post is getting too long winded already.

Not sure If I"m ready for that. I agree. This one would be worth the money if done correctly. Which I assume it was. At least he knows some about the 6.0. Makes a big difference in decision making.

If your talking about the 04 with all the engine work done, arp's so on and so forth, then yes. Only thing I would change would be the air filter, change back to stock. With all the engine work and front end work sounds like it should be ready to roll. Never heard of the company that did the work. Maybe give them a call and see what they are about but sounds to be a good deal to me.

It has ARP head studs and hopefully OEM head gaskets as well as a Bulletproof EGR cooler which are some nice bulletproofing items. It would be nice to know how the previous owner ran the Banks programmer ('hot' setting all the time, tow, or for fuel economy etc).
