Truck Pulling Advice
A co-worker challenged me to a truck pull between my truck and his last night. This will happen at a company BarBQ this fall. Now that I'm sober, I'm thinking, ohhhhh crap. I have a 76 F250 4x4, 390, new Borg Warner Brute Force Clutch\PP with the complete Eldelbroc pkg. No headers. My gearing is 4:10. Mechanicly, it's sound. I have 33" all season type tires. He has a 1980 something F150 shortbed 4x4 V8, ( 302\351?) that has an auto and other than a lift kit and 35" tires, is stock as far as I can see. This will happen in a grass field, he wanted pavement but I said no. He wants to hook them together bumper to bumper and go. He also wants to put 1200 lbs of weight in his truck. I have no Idea what to do. I figure I have more power than him but my tires will probably just spin in that field. I have many questions, since I have a 4 speed, what gear do I start out in, 4 wheel HI or LOW, chain or nylon strap, weight in my truck or empty, running start or take the slack out of whatever connecting device we use? How can I win without loosing in front of my peers?
)) ANY advice will be appreciated.Rich
