I've got an '92 150 anyone got any good suggestions on vehicle security. Had it taken on Monday - lost tools, wheels, everything of any use inside.

Pitbulls or rattlers would work I guess. Anything a little safer (for me that is!)

Ouch! what a horrible thing to happen to prompt your first post. Did you get it back?

I haven't got an alarm on mine yet, but it's going to have one pretty soon. I don't know what kind yet. I'll be checking this thread to see what the other members say.

I resisted buying an alarm the last time my truck was broken into. The one I picked out has a key fob that lights up and makes racket when the alarm is tripped. Just enough time to grab my pistol and run. However, a life sentence for murder is the last thing I want. So back to the drawing board. Was thinking of some sort of motion or alarm activated camera. Have to take a trip down to Cabelas to look around.

Alot of different security systems. I've thought of getting a holster for a large hand gun, some of the 'empty' bullets used for jewelry and hang it somewhere in plain view.

" Look Dave, that's one big holster, let's get out of here before the sumbidg comes back"

Bubba S, yeah I got it back on Thursday - cleaned out. Lost a whole week of work and probably next week too. Should have it back on the road Tuesday or Wednesday. Buy new tools and start again.

Alarms - show me an alarm that people react to and you show me an alarm that works. How many times has anyone just walked on when they hear an alarm going - too many times

You're right. If it's parked away from your house at a parking lot or something it could go off and no body would pay attention. I have a friend with a big Harley, we went into a parking lot and he set 3 alarms off just by driving by cars.

But if it's parked in your driveway, and goes off then you could come out with guns blazing.

I guess the best kind would be one of those that disabled the ignition. At least they couldn't drive the truck off.

yeah thats quite good but their aint any visible device to stop them trying and once their in they could get ur tools. im a carpenter and aload of kids cleaned me out. now i just take my tool out every night so theirs no risk but im afraid they will take my truck. im on the look out for a security device that they can see and that will put them off trying

Just get some stickers to put on the glass that say something like "Protected by High-Voltage Security System - Shock Hazard. Do not touch metal surfaces."

Go to a farm store and get an electric fence system. The cartoon with the little guy peeing on the truck would take on a whole new meaning.

Take it from someone who has lived on a farm and has been there, done that.

Hadn't heard of that, but I was thinking, for truck theft protection the Club would probably be the cheapest and most effective. So what's so specail about this Big-Un?

It would be illegal to actually put something like a stun-gun on for a security system - the chance of it killing someone is too high, even if it really was a car thief who died. That said, there ARE guides to how you build one, but I doubt FTE admin would tolerate any further discussion of that particular topic.

I've never looked into security systems because mine is already SOOOO effective - drive a truck that looks like a POS that's about to blow up or fall apart, and no one even looks inside to see the ~$2,000 worth of tools I sometimes carry.

How about one of those big jobsite boxes to lock yur tools up in or a camper shell of some kind to keep em outta sight outta mind. Another simple thing would be by a disconnect for the negative terminal on the battery. Undo the the thumb screw and no power. Sounds like yur getting hit by the neighborhood bangers and not pros. Lock up the tools outta sight, disconnect the battery and geta club. Just my two cents
