Okay, Fiancé's uncle has this old F600 sitting at the farm and he said I could have the four speed out of it. Also offered me the five speed out of the old F
700 sitting out there too. I believe that the 4 speed is a NP435 and that the 5 speed is a Clark 282v. Would like to swap out the C6 in my 77 F250 for a manual and would like to verify that the 4 is indeed a New Process. Unfortunately there is no data plate on the truck so it's a visual comparison. OR, would the Clark be a viable option. Was told that the F600 had the 330 in it originally. No idea about the F700. If I swapped in the NP435 what transmission parts would I have to change besides the bellhousing? I believe I can get the clutch pedal/linkages/slave cylinder from the donor truck.
Left: New Process 435 shift lever retainer cap (B8T-7220-D) has two notches, is retained to the shift tower with two pins.
To remove this cap, it must be pressed down by hand and held down while turning it to remove it.
Some people are unaware, use pliers or channel locks to remove it...which tears out one or both of the notches. Not Pleasant!

Right: Warner T-18 shift lever retainer cap (8MTH-7220) threads off/on.
ND, I can't tell by the diagram but would it be possible to change out the input shaft with one of the correct size or would all of the internals be affected?

The entire trans has to be disassembled to remove the input shaft, and where will you find the correct input shaft and all the clutch linkage and pedals for a 1977 F250?
1973/79 F100/350: There are TWENTY TWO different brake pedals, NINETEEN different power brake boosters, SEVENTEEN different master cylinders and SEVEN different clutch pedals, I kid you not!
The brake and clutch pedals you use must match the brake booster the truck has now.
IMO: Forget it, you will be opening a HUGE can of worms while attempting to make this swap.
I have thought about it, and it is in much better shape than expected. But not sure where to start on it. I guess find an engine for it. Most of the engine bits are sitting in the cab.
BTW, if someone is interested in buying either of these trucks, the owner will probably sell them for the right price. Next weekend I'm going back out there to swap out the crappy bed on my pickup for the somewhat better bed he has. I'll see about getting some more pics of the trucks.
