DIESELSITE Fuel Filter / Water Separator

I just installed the DIESELSITE Fuel Filter / Water Separator on my 2012 F350 DRW. I spoke to the people at DIESELSITE and they said there was no reason to build a shroud around them. What are the thoughts on that, and if you did enclose them what did you use?

I have not yet installed a shield on mine, but I don't drive off-road or on lots of gravel roads. I would be concerned about having rocks thrown from the front tire into the bowl, potentially causing a crack, or knocking off a petcock. They are made from the same impact resistant material that safety glasses are made from though, so it's not exactly fragile. My idea to put a shroud on them though was thin gauge aluminum or sheet metal mounted directly in front of the unit just to deflect whatever flies off of the tire.

I've had mine installed for over a year. No issues so far, but I do have spare bowls just in case I ever broke a bowl.
