What would cause "lunging"?
I would imagine it also happens on extended and supercab trucks as well, though I have no evidence to prove this to be true as I have never been in either of these 3 generations.
Balancing doesn't work if there is water inside the tire. balancing also can't fix a slightly bulging tire.
What we need, is someone to test this with and without a heavy load in their trucks. same road, same speed, different amount in the truck bed. See if the problem gets better or worse. Also video!
I wonder if the TTB axle has something to do with it based on its design. Its done it on both leaf sprung and radius arm TTB front ends. I mean, its a long shot, but who knows. Its also done it with added leafs and aftermarket gas shocks.
If it also matters, all times I have experience it are with semi float axles, but I don't think that would make a difference.
Number of springs or stiffness must not make a difference as it does it on stock 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and modified 3/4 ton springs.
It does seem to do it on even pavement more than bumpy, at least on smooth pavement is when I can feel it, of course because of no bumper interference.
I agree with your idea on the videos. The problem is, this seems to be more random than anything so capturing it on film may prove tough unless someone has a camera with enough memory to film an entire ride.
