My first post finally. I have lurked here for a while and have finally posted something. I teach collision repair at a high school tech center. I have recently purchased a project that I think the students will like. Its a 1962/63? b600 bus. I found it in our local scrap yard about to be crushed. It has a 292 that we fired up for the first time last week. It does not smoke or rattle and has 50+ lbs of oil pressure cold and 35+ hot. The plans are to fix the brakes, replace the widow maker wheels and re wire. Also plan to make more highway friendly. This is one reason I wanted to post here due to many questions about parts and upgrades. check out the video, sorry for the FB link

Reason: learning
here is the bus at the scrap yard. I have been looking for a short bus for a hot rod project at school. This one is not short but will be in the future. I plan to remove at least a 3 window section from the middle then move the rear forward. We also plan to drop the bus but want to do so with as many ford pieces as possible. I have a 3 deuce set up for the y block I would like to use as well. I have been looking up info on better gears for the rear but may have to swap to a newer one and adding an overdrive trans. I would like to hear input from any one who has updated one of these or similar truck.
thanks
here is the bus with 3 window sections removed. we are in the process of moving the rear axle forward. plans for now are a 2 link with bags and a very low stance. Once the axle is moved the rear section of the body will join together in a factory seam
ABSOLUTELY NOT! on the partridge family paint. I don't even like the music.
no paint plans for now other than cleaning off as much old white as possible.
plans are to lower, put body back together, rebuild brakes and re-seal/tune up the old yblock. maybe adapt a NV 4500 od trans
hopefully we can drive it to Goodguys Nashville this spring
set the front clip on to check clearances
will probably go with 1/2 ton fenders
still roles at this height
should be able to set within an inch from the ground
She's slammed and looks good. There is a member here that makes a reverse hood kit here on the forum. I am planning on getting one for my 66 when the time comes.
