automatic locking hubs

I have a 1985 f-150. does anyone know where I can buy automatic locking hubs for the truck instead of the manual locking hubs...?

You might want to re-think that. Just my 2 cents. Most guys that have these are taking them off cuz they have a habit of breaking when you need them most. If you've ever been stuck to the point of having to rock the truck back and forth, it allows the hub to come unlocked, then has to relock when going forward again. That's when the usually break, or sieze up from not being engaged often enough.

it's not a truck that I will take off road. just mainly for snow or when roads get wet. here in Missouri, we don't get a whole lot of snow, but enough to use the 4x4.

Well , snowy and icy roads are where they fail often also, but, as I said, I will never have them on my truck. You'll probably have to look for a good used set on ebay cuz I don't believe anyone makes an aftermarket for them. Good luck.

I dislike the auto locks on mine. In deep snow the "bang" when they engage is unsettling.

I'm not sure. I believe so. He would need all the internals for them also. Warn premiums are the same part number for a 85 and 95. Both should be 30 spline. Don't think there were any internal hub changes.

Just wait for the day when they don't bang, then you'll have issues, lol.

Or the day they do bang, followed by a ratchet sound as they tear themselves apart.

Don't you need the push button t-case to use auto locking hubs? I don't think the OP's '85 would be equipped that way...

So there's a switch in the t-case that activates the auto locks? Must be on manual transmission trucks only, right?
