Hi….I have a 1966 F100 standard cab that I've been restoring. My question is which "white" is correct for this truck….the stark white on the wheels and hubcaps OR, the white on the grill and bumpers. I personally like the stark white but think the whites should match and the white should be correct for the truck?
The creamy white is Wimbledon white, or close to it. The other is what I call "Chevy white" and in my opinion is incorrect for any Ford truck of the period unless it was ordered as (I think) "Polar" white. All two-tones used Wimbledon white although not everyone agrees with me. Like everything else.

The color of the hubcap ( whimbledon white ) is the correct color used on wheels, grilles and bumpers when your 1966 F 100 was built new. Whimbedon white is an off white, not a bright or gloss white. Other items if your interested in the "factory look" :Turn signal bezel was anodized aluminum. My biggest pet peeve on repainted '61-'66 trucks: No black trim paint behind grill, see photo.
OK, what are we disagreeing about, Gang? I'm ready to disagree... about pretty much anything. Trip, I think you almost agreed with me, almost...
A local friend has a colour code"J" Merc painted in Rangoon red and "refrigerator" white. I love telling him that, although beautiful, his truck really shouldn't have that Chevy paint on it.

If y'all agree that 1961/66 grilles, bumpers, wheels and hubcaps are all painted the same shade of white, it cannot be Wimbledon White.
Wimbledon White (color code M) was introduced in 1964 .. 1960/63's used the same M color code, but this refers to Corinthian White, which is a bright white.
Color code C - Pure White was also introduced in 1964, this is also a bright white.
So, what shade of white are 1964/66 grilles, bumpers, wheels and hubcaps since there were two shades of white available?
IMO, all 1961/66 grilles, bumpers and hubcaps are painted Colonial White, which was the bright white used on 1957/59's.
The grill on my 66 is definitely Wimbledon White and I'm as sure as a person can be that it is still sporting the original paint.
Not only does it share the same aged look as the rest of the paint on the truck, but I have all the maintenance and repair records dating back to when the truck was new.
It doesn't really matter a hill of beans though, because although I love the originality of my truck, I detest car judging events. What's "correct" for my truck is what I put on it.
All this seems a little confusing to me. Maybe it depended on what the exterior color was. My 66 that I bought in 71 still has the original paint, Wimbleton white? The grill is the same color white as the truck, not a brighter white. I don't recall the bumper color as I replaced it with a chrome one soon after I got the truck..
There are two exceptions to the rule of Whimbedon White being used in 1966 that I'm aware of, special order fleet colors, grille and bumpers were painted color of body, i.e. P.G and E. , Bell Telephone etc. or truck was originally painted Pure white (bright white) then grill and bumper would match in Pure white. Here is a 1966 F 100 similar to your vehicle, wheels, hubcaps, grill and bumper all painted in matching Whimbedon White, notice bumper bolts were not painted.
Thank you to all of you who provided me with feedback….I appreciate it. My takeaway is that the bumpers, grill and wheels/hubcaps should all be the same color white; but that could be either wimbledon white or corinthian white.

so, how different is pure white compared to colonial white? I want to paint my 66 pure white. My 1967 RIP, was painted pure white as was the bumper and grille. My dad bought it used with 5k miles on it. Would a 66 pure white also have the same color grille as the body? I know my 66 holly/ Wimbledon has a wimbeldon grille that looks like crap. PO painted the aluminum grille. Doh!
Following COLOR codes stamped on the Warranty Plate only refer to the exterior colors. Parts catalog doesn't say if these same colors were also used on grilles, bumpers, hubcaps.
