My front fuel gauge stopped working.....I haven't done any research on it yet. I wondering could it be fuse related? Any info would be appreciated. I have a 1996 Ford F-250, 7.3liter powerstroke.
First thing-- welcome to the ford truck forums!!
There is a fuse in the in cab fuse panel that controals the fuel selector valve and the fuel gauge. If you can switch the truck to the rear tank and the fuel gauge works correctly, the fuse is probably good. If the gauge reads empty on the front tank all the time, the float on the fuel gauge may have a hole in it and filled with fuel, and will have to be replaced if that is the case.
Thank you for the welcome and the reply. Yes, my rear tank works fine. Is it a big ordeal to fix the fuel gauge? While we are on the subject.......I think my truck holds 25 gallons....how many gallons does the front tank hold and the back tank as well.
Most 250s left the factory with 19 gal front and rear tanks. My 97 F350 has a 19 gal rear, and 23 gal front tank.
On the fuel gauge repair, the tank has to be dropped, and the sender unit removed to have it repaired or replaced. The last I heard, the replacement sender is kind of spendy.
