Transit Connect Extended?
I saw one yesterday, is it front wheel drive? Is it bigger or the same as the Aerostar Extended? What do the reviews say about it?
I've been driving a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan in my job. The quality of the fit and finish is horrible, they use tape (Yes, TAPE) to hide the seams and then paint over the tape.
but it handles like a race car, I am very impressed by the handling and the engine is no slouch either. The transmission shifts horribly. Also I do not like the McPhearson Struts, though I may be wrong about them because the van corners very flat around 80 mph.
and the A/C is very powerful, it copes great at 95 degree weather and during idling.
I have been looking at them closely in the showroom floor and I just keep thinking, "there is no way I can get a 4x8 sheet in there." "When I go on a family trip, where do I Put the luggage? There is only about a foot of space between the 3rd seat and the hatch." "Everything is low, what will keep it from high centering in the snow we get?" plus much more. It is no where close to being as versatile as the Aero.
The XL (long wheelbase)'s only engine option is a 2.5L NA 4 banger FWD. The shorter version has an optional 1.6L I4 eco-boost, but again only FWD.
We do sell a lot of them to the local businesses as delivery vehicles, they have decent roof height, but they look to me like a bloated focus.
On the upside they go forever, reliable as all can get out. I have already seen some with 200k+ mi come in for oil changes and basic maintenance only. They have the latest gadgets and have a car like ride.
As a work vehicle, I would think that you would be happy with it, but as general purpose family hauler, it is not.
my .02.

non-removable seats? SEE YA!
I did fall inlove with another vehicle, the Lincoln MK-T (Ford is stealing Jaguar model names, like the MK-7, the "MK" designation was invented by Jaguar in the 1950's).
but the MK-T is useless as a wagon, the center Console extends to the rear seats, is not removable, and can only seat 2 people in the second row of seats. Talk about useless.
