Grandson (local) and son in law from Ft. Worth threw themselves on the valve cover clearance problem with the 5# sledge. Four well placed whacks fixed things just dandy. Eddie and Brett put a 3/8" notch right where it needed to be. No noticeable affect in the cabin... covered by carpet.
Now have balanced the old y block with pitted, yet handsome finned aluminum valve covers that say Thunderbird. Best. Himmelberg
Veeerrrrryyyy clever! I never would have thought of that. Notice that son-in-law is fighting hard to stop laughing at the whole operation.
And the best part is ... drum roll ... HE GOT SOMEBODY ELSE TO DO IT!!!
Peter, you're my hero!
Gets the younger folks to do the work, yet have someone else to blame if it doesn't work.
The next oldest wields the BFH
The last in line holds the device being struck (And isn't watching the BFH coming at him.)
I'll bet Himmelberg even has someone else takin' the pictures!
Just curious: if it turns out that the "notch" created by the 5# sledge doesn't provide enough clearance while driving the 'BergMobile, will you hit it with a bigger hammer? like a 10#'r?
LOL...
