8.5 compression ratio in newer 460's

I was wondering if the 8.5: 1 compression ratio listed in stats for the 87 - up 460's is achieved with pistons or do the 87 up 460's have smaller cc heads?

Can these pistons as stock replacements be used to replace the 8:1 pistons in the older 460's for a mild compression upgrade?

have you looked up part #'s and compared between the years? That will tell you what you need to know as far as which one is affecting CR.

Thanks for the replies.

Good info on that kb-piston site. It appears the pistons are responsible for the slight compression increase.

This might be a way to get a little compression boost and keep your engine happy on 87 octane.

Didn't know if anyone had went this route or not.
