Jag IRS looks good, I will be installing one in my 1956 IH S100 but solid mounted without the cage. I have a few on hand so may as well try one.

LOL never know, the build may be posted here. I started my 1957 IH A100 build here and nobody minded, but had to take a break from it to get my 1941 Cadillac finished. That build is not here but pics are on my FB page. Will be on the road for spring, then back to the 57 IH..then waiting are the 56 IH S100, 1960 F100, 1967 F100, etc...

Welcome Guntown. I am using 'soft mount' to put my Jag front end and the help I have received here is invaluable, particularly burnettd01 who has been especially helpful. Note that the front connection of the Jag/Ford mount uses the original Ford front leaf spring mount holes. I have a SBF so I had to get a rear sump pan to clear the suspension cross member. Have fun with your build.

Thanks Fordycouv, I picked up a 86' Jaguar RIS this past weekend for $200, its in real good shape. I have not been able to find a IFS Jag front around here in Texas except having to buy the whole car. The front end of the car I bought the rear off of was snatched up already. I don't want a junk car parked in my pasture. I will keep searching and if I cannot find one I will go with a Mustang II set up. I am planning my install for the rear and researching post's. Take care Craig..........

Thumbs up

FWIW, Austin Wrench-A-Part shows a 1985 XJ6 in stock. This might be in the wrong part of Texas, but maybe some other Pick-N-Pull type yard around you has something.

Thanks Fortycouv, J.O.B. and Farm chores have delayed my Build pursuit. I will take a drive there and see if it is still there or been striped of anything essential, like rack and pinion, steering shafts and joints etc, etc. Should I grab the power steering pump or get one that will go with what power plant when I decide Ford or Chevy .

I would suggest you get the P/S pump and the mounting brackets. You should also get the lower steering shaft as well. When you soft mount the IFS you will need the lower shaft to account for movement in the rubber mounts.

Hope this helps.

XJ front suspension

Call first. They don't always last long before crushing. Be sure to grab that u-joint connector from the donor. I just hack sawed (sawzall) the shaft off as long as I could get before the firewall. The u-joint was kind of bound up so I sprayed it with PB Blaster, freed it up and soaked it in a dish of oil for a month or so. A small assortment of wrenches and sockets 3/8" to 5'8" SAE and some metrics in the same range should get it off. The large front bolts are 1-1/8" and you might need a drift and hammer to get those bolts out. Keep any bolts brackets, shocks etc. Good hunting.

Talking

Thanks for the info, I picked up a 87'-88' 5.0 with 80K on the od for $250.00 over the weekend. I have a couple 350 Chevy's and trans on hand but something tells me that I should put a Ford in her. I caved to some old guys in the area. Oh what the heck, this is my first Ford I have ever owned and might as well have some fun and learn how to work and tinker the Ford way, lol. I didn't score the harness and ecm for it thou so gonna go old school with carb and slap some decent aluminum heads and some exhaust. Freshen up with new rotating assembly and valve train parts. Nothing crazy but decent power and a truck the Wife can drive too. Gonna get by the wrecking yard to see if jag suspension is still there and not picked apart. This motor became available near by so could let it get away. take care, Craig

Well after about 400 miles on the 383 I decided to sell it, just too much power and torque for the truck, it was just a monster that belongs in something with more chassis and rear suspension to hook it up. So out it comes and off to a new owner, one ride in the truck and he was sold LOL. Dropping back down to 300 or so HP with another LT1 that will be a bit tamer.

I'm surprised at this turn of events, Dave! But it sounds like a prudent move. Hey, maybe you could drop in a V6?!
