I am replacing broken exhaust studs on my2002 350 xl not a easy chore but thought I would use stainless studs and nuts. I don't want to do this again this is the second time I have done this. any advise would be helpful, thanks
buy the ARP stainless studs, they will never rot or break. I should have done this but i just put a set of Dorman replacement studs two years and they look brand new still.....
For sure ARP's. You may spend a few bucks more, but will never have to do the job again. You really don't need the stainless with ARP, but they would look nice if you could even see them
If you can get ARPs they will be stronger than any OE replacements. Rust usually is not as much of an issue as the studs usually end up snapping due to the expansion/contraction from hundreds of heat/cool cycles.
You can get all sorts of individual ARP studs, nuts, and bolts from Allen's Fasteners. I did a quick check and 16 studs and nuts from them was about 30% cheaper than a full pre-packaged set from Summit Racing. Verify the size you need.
