I'm going to try getting there on Thursday to Hershey. but work schedule will probably play a factor of if I can make it or not. Definitely inconvenient to have it during the week. Do you still have the other part of that drive shaft? Wonder if it will work in my project. Having a hard time getting one that fits.

I got the u-bolts off without heat or breakage. 3/4" drive craftsman socket and ratchet with a small bar attached for leverage.

Had to overcome 40 plus years of use.

And now I have a set of springs and rear shackles for sale.

No progress this past weekend, The wife and I went to the Dover Race. Had a great time, got into the pits and garage before the race (had to buy the package, but was worth every penny). Hope to do some work this week and head to Hershey on Friday for more parts.

Originally my 1957 F100 had a y block with three on the tree but I am putting A 460 in it with a 4 speed through the floor. What on my truck needs to be changed for a 4 speed to work. I have a 79 f100 steering column out of a 4 on the floor truck in it right now

Sounds like a mod to the drive shaft and most likely a move for the transmission cross member for the trans change. You will more than likely need to do some work on the clutch linkage as well. The motor change will be the bigger job. Good luck, show us some pictures too.

I am not positive, and ND, or Jeff, and others like Orich may know better, but I am thinking that the cab center floor plate may need to be changed. I believe that the shift rails & tower are taller than the 3 on the tree.. I've always had a 4 speed, (NP 435), but it seems to me that the floor is flatter on other models...

Good luck with it, and post some photos along the way..

The transmission cover plate on a 1957 is shaped different than our Bumps. More forward. BTW,the main floor is the same no matter which tranny used.
Transmission cover plate:
1957 F100/600 (got to be a typo) 5 speed transmission......B7C8112108B.
57/60 f100/600 With Fordomatic, 3 speed L/D, 3 speed M/D...B7C8112108A.
57/60 f100/600 With 3 speed H/D and 4 speed L/D......B7C8112108B Again.
I didn't bother listing F700 and heavier. All listings said "cut holes as required".

Went to the Hershey swap meet today. Not much there for the bumps. Did see Dennis Carpenter and got a new catalog and some great posters. Really wanted to find the Kwik Wire guy but did not see him. I will have to see if I can find a deal online.

I went back in your thread, to look at your parts donor. I cannot see the windshield trim in the photo in post #18. Is the trim off your donor truck? Regardless, the trim looks to be in good shape, at least better than most of mine. The three trees I "Trimmed" during the cow incident, sure wrinkled the right side of mine. No way its going back in...

Somewhat productive Saturday. Sole the disc brake front end, extra tailgeate, hinges, fenderwell mounts, roof, steering column and a couple of other pieces. In turn I got a good 71/72 grill and some cash.

Sunday I was a bum, didn't do anything on the truck. Got the lawn mowed and some errands done then went to Harbor Freight. Bought a new Impact Gun and gonna bring it back today. Just saw that it will be on-sale next week for 10 buck less dangit. Hope to do some cleaning in the garage and maybe fire off the sand blaster too.
