Tailgate color?
Hello again from Akron, I have yet another question involving 57-60 ford trucks. My question is: on 1960 f-100 customcab 6 1/2 foot styleside bed, which color is the tailgate. Look in my gallery to see the current repainted tailgate. I was going to trace the FORD letters on the back but I want to stay original and I think my tailgate should be white. Any info would be greatly appricated(thanks in advance kenny )-4speed

Tailgate color?
Hi 4speed,
The tailgate would be the color you already have it painted, and the letters would be outlined in white. For 1960, it would be "Corinthian white".
Here's a great example of an original two tone paint scheme:

Tailgate color?
Glad to help! I just hope I don't come off as a 1957-'60 "question hog", or seem like a "know it all".
Anyway,
Freezeplug said that his truck was restored at some point before he purchased it. I imagine it must have been re-painted as well. (Looks awesome too!)
If you are looking for historical accuracy.........
Tailgates were originally painted by the factory with the "lower" (darker) color of the two-tone paint job.
The "upper" color was always white on an original two-tone.
Hope this helps.
