Hi There.
I then went to the dealer and ordered a 2013 6.7L PowerStroke F250 crew cab, short bed, lariat 4X4 just the way I wanted. That was just over a year ago. Love this truck even more than the last one. Only thing I planned to do aftermarket to this truck was to put on some AMP running boards. That was a awesome buy. Now I'm thinking I might need some air bags in the rear.
My only complaint about the truck is that I hear a odd sound in the engine compartment at certain times. I can always get it to happen on certain roads. It happens when the truck is in 6th gear, going up a slight incline, at 45 mph, the turbo at 8-10 psi. and I try accelerating just enough to make the truck go faster but not enough to make it downshift. It sounds like a blow off valve or something like that. It is a faint "bursts of air" sound that is fast. Kind of sounds like a type writer but air. It took me a while to figure out how to get it to happen or to see if it is getting worse and I don't think it has. I took my truck in about three months ago for its service at about 7k miles. I talked to the service writer when I scheduled the appointment and told him about the sound. He said when I come in that he would send the mechanic on a test ride with me so I can show him the sound. After the drive I left the truck with them for the day. He did the service and said that my truck is fine and they can't fix anything till it breaks. About a month ago I was on a trip in the mountains and heard it the whole time. This put a "spur in my a**" metaphorically speaking. I want to get this fixed or at least if it is normal the dealer should be able to tell me what it is I am hearing. ie. turbo, pump, ect. So I scheduled another appointment. Took the same mechanic on a drive and he definitely heard it this time. He wasn't sure what that was but checked the computer for codes and the checked for TSB and such. He found something saying to re-flash my computer for surging of the vehicle. He also said if this doesn't work to come back and drive with a mechanic that can hear better. Low and behold this did not fix my problem. So I took it in last monday and took another mechanic for a drive. He heard it right away and said it sounds like an intake issue, like maybe the turbo is feeding back into the intake. I left the truck yet again with them. It took them till late wednesday to finally decide to order and replace my turbo. They should get the new turbo in 3-4 days. Hopefully this fixes my problem. I also feel like I have a suspensions issue but I will post that in the proper thread. I think my remedy for that will be to put some air bags in the rear.
Well enough of me ranting about my problems. Just giving a little background.
