The Vibration happens at the center carrier bearing for your 2 piece driveshaft.

If there are shims fitted on the center carrier bearing to space it down on your truck from the factory, you can remove some of them (it doesn't take much) to get rid of the vibe. Of course you need to test it unloaded, as its possible that you may remove too many shims get a vibe unloaded now too. If there aren't any shims you can take it to the dealer - every Ford truck with a 2 piece driveshaft can encounter these problems, and they have different spacers to move it up and down.

The best way to eliminate it is to install airbags as mentioned, because it keeps the rear ride height the same whether loaded or not. Other tricks to increase rear ride height (blocks, stable loads etc.) under load may help.

That park is one of my favorite.
I did some hiking near the middle of the park around Rainbow Falls trail area about a year ago.
I hiked the full Cades Cove loop one time but its been about 10 years.
I recommend doing it on a day with less ice.

days 3 and 4

That's very cool in more ways than one.

Spent yesterday doing the tourist thing in Gatlinburg. What a riot. Bumper to bumper in and out. Today we went over the mountain through the park. Bumper to bumper all day. All this slow driving is really creating a lot of exhaust cleaning. Cleaned twice today. It does a good job cleaning even at low speeds but I'm at 11 MPG. As the second cleaning was happening today I kind of lost track and pulled in to an overlook and shut it down. I guess it wasn't quite done and it stunk just like the 6.4 used to.

Using the tranny shifter is a pleasure. That thing works very well and retards very well. In drive I could use the tow haul and down shift with ease using the brake. When I got it down to 3rd gear I'd knock off 6, 5 and 4 with the shifter and it would hold 3rd as long as I wanted and could have gone down to 2nd had I had a need. The tranny retards the truck speed very well. Next trip is up to Boone and I should get some experience doing that with the trailer behind me, then we'll see what she's got.

No pictures today. We went to Clingmans Dome today. Highest point in TN. The walk from the parking lot is straight up. It says a half mile but I think it's more. The dome is 6600 ft; or as you guys out west would say, a valley. So halfway up I try to take a picture and my batteries dead. I wasn't going back down to get one. PPPP (pi** poor prior planning).

More when it happens.

Interesting the amount of cleaning you are experiencing vs what I had. But now that I think of it I didn't have so much stop and go.

When I went 4x4ing up that one trail most of the day I still didn't have cleaning.

I like to go up there in fall and early spring. There are some fair campgrounds where you can back up to a stream and listen to the water for a weekend. My kids enjoy the goofy stuff in gatlinburg, wifey and I enjoy the park. We go about once every two years.

The national park has always been a relatively close by way to camp, get away, and enjoy different weather for us.

Glad the truck is warming up to ya Stanley.

I've always been kind of strange feeling about the situation where mainly you and Scott came from the 6.4, just like I did. Both y'all seem to be wary, hesitant, skeptical of the 6.7 whereas I just flat out fell in love with it and especially the transmission. I've often wondered why I was eager and excited to buy into the 6.7 and you two are coming off as kind of "it's ok, not a big deal" about it.

Sorry to derail things here but I bring this up only because I value y'all opinions on things and I wonder what I'm missing.....

By the way, I've been living in my camper for a couple weeks at the z-max drag way in Charlotte (Tom Johnson campground) while we tackle a big project for work. Heading home today but I'll miss my camper! I could easily live in this thing.

I don't know exactly why I am luke warm about the new truck. I was very happy with the 6.4 and finally had it where I wanted it. I made an uninformed decision to let them total it. I just knew it could be repaired but I also knew that the frame could have been hit and I didn't want to take the gamble. Only the computer could tell me for sure. It's repaired and on Craigs in Fort Myers now. I guess that's part of it. This truck also has the stuff that I worked so hard to fix on the 6.4L. That nasty dirty looking pitch black oil which can't possibly be protecting the engine as good as it should and the turbo lag and exhaust cleanings. But, I'm gonna swallow hard and just keep on trucking. I'm committed to staying stock but there are a lot of times that little voice says "this would be a great truck to tune and delete". Plus, it's just too darn quite to be a diesel. I told the guy next door this morning to let me start mine first because when he fired up that 7.3 I couldn't tell if mine was running or not.

I understand your desire to delete. I told myself I was going to leave the 6.7 stock because it ran good and got decent fuel mileage. I work for Ga Power and bid out of the plant to build substations so now I travel throughout the week. With all the exhaust sensors failing, I decided to make the jump and delete because I didn't want to be on the side of the road in south Ga. The funny thing about deleting was I used one of the sensors in the EGR delete kit I purchased, and two weeks after the delete, I was driving home from Macon and the EGT reading went crazy on the Dashdaq. At least the sensor failed reading EGTs for the Dashdaq versus sitting in the factory exhaust and leaving me on the side of I-75. Yes, the power is there if you want to turn it up, but I leave it on the lowest power level on the Dashdaq. Mileage went up but nothing like it did on my 6.4. Best benefits to deleting are 1) my oil literally takes 3-4000 miles before it turns a "shade" darker than honey and 2) No DEF.

Even when the 6.4 PSD is deleted and with head studs, it's still a ticking time bomb. I've seen soooo many 6.4 PSD in the black box to be sent in as a core at the Ford shop my cousin works it's sickening. Anyone who has one of these engines with less than 100k miles really can't speak to the issues that would raise it's ugly head.

There's a reason Ford dissolved the relationship with Navistar and now that Ford will be producing the F650 - F750 themselves in the old E series van factory Ford has now completed the mission to rid themselves from Navistar.

I like the turbo and the engine braking on the 6.4. It also seemed quicker and held the speed in mountains better.

Suspension was stiffer as well.

I like the 6.7 but it has its short comings. I think some of those have been addressed with the 2015 models but I am not trading.

You just have to work around the engine braking issue and obviously you are slower on the mountains is all.

2015 turbo swap candidate! It will work with all factory equipment and programming in place.

What is it day 6 I guess. Worked this truck over good today, towed from Pigeon Forge TN to Boone NC. Some ups and downs on the interstates but then we hit a would class pig trail from Elizebethton TN (probably spelled that wrong) up to Boone NC. We had about 45 miles of ups and downs and all arounds, but mostly ups. It was a very interesting trip. The truck did very well. I considered going to manual shift but decided to just leave it in drive with tow/haul. It worked great, just like yesterday; down shifted with brake and up shifted with go pedal. The control was great and the retardation was very effective. I did turn a few high RPM with a couple shifts to 2nd gear, but not seeing any redline on the speedo I trusted the engineers and let her rev. I was very impressed. ECT hit about 224 I think and the airplane fan came on for just a little bit like 15 to 30 seconds. That was close to the top and the outside air temp was around 70. No exhaust cleanings today. Fuel mileage for trip is now at 11.4 on the computer. I'm at about 600 miles so I'm still drawing from the in-bed tank. I forgot to measure the drop of the rear when I put the trailer on and then I forgot to measure again when I unhooked. Old age will cause that. Also the vibration seems to be a lot less robust today. Over all I'm pretty happy with the truck and the vacation. However, I may have over shot my target. I was wanting to find temps in the 70s, but they say low 50s here tonight. See y'all.

Great run so far.

With the coolant temp at 224F did your coolant gauge move to just the right of center like the 6.4 would? I assume the gauge and its measurements would be the same.

Don't know, I saw the temp on the Edge display. Looked at it as I heard the fan come on. I was playing with the off road display at the time. I was going pretty much straight up at least 5 degrees and the off road said it was 1 degree. A big waste of money as best I can tell.
