parking break

I have a 02 f250 7.3L stick shift which I bought a couple of months ago. I have noticed my parking break works great when I need it to stop me from rolling backwards but not at all when I roll forwards. My question is this something I can do on my own? Or should I get a mechanic to look at it? I have replaced breat pads and other things in the past but I have very little knowledge of parking breaks. I am hesitant to go to mechanics for anything right now because I had quotes from 800-1500 to replace the oil pan onmy wife's car.

Yea, your pads need to be changed, there is a good write up here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-pictures.html

The only sucky part for me was getting a spindle socket to fit the rear, do yourself a favor and just buy one from napa or online, I couldn't find one around town when I waited last minute to do it. It was my first time and that write up helped a lot.

And before you get to that point you might check to see if it can be fixed by your adjusters, mine was stuck so I couldn't advance it anymore.
