Question BOW to teh Tranny GODS E40d Problem

I have a old Mule 1989 E-350 Ambulance. She has teh e40d tranny adn 7.3 l diesel. We had the tranny rebuild at ford. we have about 5 k miles on the rebuild we recently lost the ign switch. We replaced that and later noticed we had no Overdrive cancel operations. I checked all the poser connection fuse and ect. Check to make sure it has the right IGN switch and also check a relay under the hood that had issues once before with the OD Switch .. All seems good. I have no OD control. I and open to any hints. I have some engine work to do before i take her over to the dealer. IF it makes a difference it is a Cutaway with the ambulance body on the back.

Thanks again

"up to my A$%^ in tranny "

Grizz

Grizz, just an outside chance. I noticed on my 1994 F150 when changing out the clock spring (this controls the OD and horn on this year model) that you must remove the ignition switch. Reason for this is that there is a little brown wire with a connector from the clock spring that slips in along the side of the ignitions switch. Could that little connection have come undone or broken when the ignition switch was replaced? Good luck.....Van

Hmmm good question.. I want to make sure we are on the same page. Ignition Switch.( Electonic connection under the dash) or are you talking the ignition key switch.

Thanks

John, probably wasn't clear, sorry. The ignition key switch in the column that can be popped out when turning and depressing the pin. I may have mis interpreted your post. Did you replace the cylinder. Your OD buttons are in the steering wheel, right?.....Van
