my 97' ford ranger splash edition has a stock tape deck player in it and i was wondering where i should go to find a cd player that is compatiable for my truck...please help, i need it...
Are you looking for a stock cd or aftermarket? What kind of $$$ are you able/willing to spend? If you give us a budget we can give you some ideas. Are you planning on upgrading the speakers also? Have you thought about a sub? Are you planning on installing yourself? Installation is rather expensive and will affect your budget if you are having someone else do the work.
Let us know and the guys here will definately help you out.....

well i dont want something too expensive, under $150 if thats possible. and yah installation shouldnt be a problem. i also was considering putting some speakers that do hit a little harder and maybe eventually get some subs for it. i dont care if its aftermarket or not i just dont really understand how i can tell what kind fits my truck? and once i do where can a buy it? thanks for your responces..
Playboy is right, check out crutchfield.com . They will tell you what equipment will fit your truck. They also include dash adapters and harness adapters for your application. You can also check out ikesound.com . their prices are better than crutchfield and include free shipping. You can get the dash adapters and wiring harness from walmart pretty cheap. Definately buy online, you will save yourself big $$$ over a retail store. You should be able to get a good HU for around $150...
PS... look at Pioneer, Kenwood or Alpine. Stay away from Sony, Their quality isnt what it used to be. Check some of the previous threads here for info on what to look for in a HU.
Good Luck and dont be afraid to ask if you have a question or 2....

Hey man... i believe that a single din is what is in yours (i have a 91 Ranger). Luckly, most stereo's that are out there are single din. Like he said, Pioneer, Alpine(im not too fond of really), Kenwood (i absolutly love Kenwood decks) and Panasonic (which im running now, and seems to be pretty nice). Also, i would look to spend about $200, i know its a extra $50, but that usually seems to be the point where radio's go from good to much better (if you ask me) just my .02
With wiring harnesses and mounting kits included, a $150 head unit will be tough to find...if you want a quality one. Pionner DEH-3500, which I have, can be had for about $180 at Crutchfield. It's a great HU with more than enough features. It anchors my lil' setup pretty well If you need MP3, the unit above it, the 4500MP, is $20 more.
