Ok so I have a 1990 f250 7.3. With under 150000 miles. The other day My truck would bog down and die when i let off the gas pedal. But I would be able to start it back up. Then after letting it sit over night I would start it it would stay on for about 2 seconds and shut off. So I changed the fuel.filter because I should of change it about a month ago but I was lazy and am now paying the price. But I replaced the filter and now when I try and start it it will turn a few times then make a nasty sound. I have a video of the sound I can email. But I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe fuel pump, injection lines or idk. Plz help and thanks
by chanch before you changed the filter did you check fuel pressure at filter head? do you have two tanks,? how much fuel in them? mabe shower head rotted off in the tank. get it running again do some checks, don't burn up your starter....
I have 2 tanks that are both filled to the top. And I didn't check anything before changing the filter but I'm unaware of how to get it started at this point. Is their a way to check the shower head without taking out the tank
Another thing is I'm a student 600 miles from home and most of my tools. I don't have anything that can take off the fuel filter to see if diesel is getting to it at all
My youtube profile is just my name wayne anderson if that's a better way to find it. I couldn't find it with the info provided. I'm not very good with technology idk how to upload a video to a website

There are a ton of Wayne Anderson's on YouTube so that didn't help.
And it doesn't come up by any other way.
How are you young enough to be in college and terrible with technology?
How did you install a new filter if you don't have tools to take it off?

Assuming this is legit let's start by diagnosing what you have.
If the truck fuel pump is still stock then fuel pump is mounted to the engine block. It is located on drivers side near front of the engine. Follow the fuel lines coming out of the tank and trace them up to the pump.
So see if you can find the fuel pump in location I said and report back.
(It is possible that it has been removed and a small electric pump was installed.)
The video is on YouTube now. Search 1990 7.3 f250 12344321
Sorry but I'm definitely no scammer. I go to school for agronomy and besides Microsoft Office I don't use a computer. I got the filter off with pliers but I ruined the old filter and don't want to ruin the new one by gripping it. I just tried to follow the fuel lines but the lines go where i cant see

there's no nasty sound there.that sound is a good sound.that's the sound of the engine firing.she just isn't running.most likely just fuel related.insure you get a good spray out of the valve there when cranking.press in on it while someone cranks.you'll know if the ip is being fed or not anyway for starters.
you understand that the fuel pump is mechanical right? and that when you change a filter, you need to fill it with fuel/atf/oil etc or else you need to use the engine/starter to fill the filter for you.so if you didn't do this, you need to just crank while you time out a solid full 15 seconds.stop for 2 mins and then do it again.is it a manual trans? might want to drag it for a ways lol.this is a benefit of ditching the old mechanical in favor for an electric unit, like these engines should have come with stock.
Thanks everyone for the help but when I just tried to start it it fired up no problem. When I talked to a friend over the phone he said it may of just been texas humidity messing up the glow plugs and a combo of a bad filter originally. But thankfully I got her running and YES I DID FILL UP THE FILTER WITH DIESEL lol
