What do these trucks NEED to function?

Today, I ripped the 460 and C6 out of my '88 F350. I have a carbed 466 and a ZF5 that I want to put back in it.

Before the 466 goes in...I want to gut as much as I can under the hood. I want bare-minimum wiring and vacuum lines. I know what I need for the engine, but what do I have to keep to run the rest of the truck? HVAC controls, lights, power windows & locks, etc...

Can I basically remove the computer below the brake booster, and get rid of everything that plugs into it? There is nearly a dozen connectors laying on the drivers side inner fender.

Basically, I want to open the hood and see nothing but the engine, radiator, battery, brake booster/MC, and blower motor.

I've been trying to figure this out too if I were to do an engine swap. The electrical system has helped me make a list of the systems I need to leave in. Here's my list so far:
-headlights/tailights/rear licence plate lights
-cab interior lights
-dash lights
-horn
-fuel pump
-trailer connection
-radio
-fuel panel
-ignition
-HVAC (except I won't bother adding A/C)
-reverse lights
-brake lights
-charging
-emergency flashers
-turn signals
-windshield wipers/washer pump
-starter
-cooling fan

Obviously this isn't the exact list you're looking for, but it will help you think about the systems that you'll need to keep.

I think you're pretty close with your list. If you look at older vehicles, you'll see the basic functions that are required.

Thanks for the list.

I guess what I'm asking, is can I remove the computer and every connector attached to it without effecting everything on the list?

The engine is out, so I can't test everything right now. I'm not sure when it will be, as I need about $1200 in parts before I can get the new drivetrain in it (headers, clutch/flywheel, etc...)

I plan on buying factory FoMoCo service manuals for it soon.

Yes you can remove the EEC-IV computer and it's wiring, since all it did on that truck was run the engine... the C6 was completely hydraulic.
