I am looking in to getting a 4wd F150 or 250 with i-beams. I just wanted to know what year or years where bad for the 4wd if there where any. Or what years where better for them. Or if there was any change in the spindles from year to year?
Thanks
The twin I beams were on the 2 wheel drive. The TTB (twin traction beam) was on the 4x4 80-96 F-150, F-250, and on the 80-85? F-350. 86?-97 F-350's have Dana 60 straight axle front ends. The F-150's have Dana 44's, the F-250LD's have Dana 44HD's, and the F-250HD's have Dana 50's.

That's only on the '87-88 OE manual locking hubs - the autos use the normal setup and can be easily swapped to aftermarket manual hub locks.
This covers 1/2-tons only:
'80-84 use a key at the bottom to hold the caliper on. '85-93 use rubber-filled stainless clips top & bottom. '94-96 use floating calipers. '80-93 use two 4-slot wheel bearing adjusting nuts and (except '87-88 manuals) standard 1/2-ton hub locks. '94-96 auto lock hubs use a single internally-slotted adjusting nut that must be changed to the older style to install standard locks. (I'm not sure about '94-96 OE manual hub locks.) At some point, the spindles went from 6 studs to only 5, so they're not universal. My '83 had 6 and my brother-in-law's '93 has 5. '87-88 manual hubs are different from the stub shaft & spindle out, so avoid them.
