Difficult Question

At this point I have little to no time for my '53 F-100 rebuild and we are trying to downsize our house. As I am considering the possibility of selling it, I ask if anyone can give me what a decent price might be for what I have. If it seems fair and the wife agrees, I'll post it in the proper section to sell.

Complete truck less interior and bed floor
Rebuilt Ford 302 with new internals never run
Rebuilt Ford overdrive automatic tranny and new torque converter
Disc brakes on front
Ford 9 inch rear
Power steering

Against, just seeing if selling it versus holding on to it options.

Is the truck disassembled?
Detailed pictures?
Who did the rebuild work?
Receipts for work done?
Any body work done or needed?
Quality of any work done?
Location of truck?

I agree with Raytasch questions and I wanted to add a few more thoughts. Not trying to be a downer but I am a realist. I see a ton of projects that aren't finished come up on ebay/cl all the time. I understand that time becomes a factor in all builds. Have dumped my share of projects when I lost interest. If you have a ton of time and money in the project, you are better off keeping it and finishing it off.

I personally don't see the value in a rebuilt this or that or when someone offers to show me receipts for all the work that has been done. It's a nice guide but doesn't give me guarantees. A rebuild is only as good as the parts and the person doing the rebuild. No offense, but unless you will guarantee the rebuild down the road, the value of the rebuild is just another part of the risk. I have had professional engine builders get something wrong and the engine blows up.

The items you mentioned needing to be done can run in the thousands of dollars to finish out, depending on the level of build. I have spent months just working on interiors to finish it out right. I was once told that the best indicator of what something is worth is putting it up for sale and see what someone will pay you. Without photos it is hard to say if its worth $500 or $15,000. Location of truck and time of year also effects the value. I buy projects usually in early fall for winter projects for example. I have seen trucks with $20,000 worth of parts go for less than $10,000. You rarely get your time/money back on these builds. For me completeness of whats there versus how much it will take to finish it up factors into what I think the vehicle is worth. It also seems with our mid-50 trucks that the low end and high end sells but the stuff in the middle range doesn't bring what it should. Feel free to post some pics and I am sure others will chime in.

I do agree about not getting what one thinks the value should be. Of course receipts tend to "disappear" when things take so long between steps. Didn't want to post pictures trying to "sell" it to turn down low ball offers. Of course that brings us to the first sentence.

Put it on your local CL and add $500 to what you think it is worth. If you get some interest, then you are in the ballpark. If no one replies, lower the price a bit. Also look at ebay/cl for comparables and get an idea from that. Didn't mean to sound harsh earlier, just seen a varying degree of value versus quality over the years. Sadly finishing up a project always takes more time/money/energy than tearing them apart. Good luck!
