Anybody have experience replacing the rear axle or repair the axle on a f150 swb? I blew my axle or something. Drive line spins but it grinds in the pumpkin.
I have a few 9" rear ends and third members. I might have a good used one for you. I need to know the ratio to be sure. There should be a small tag on one of the bolts on the front of the differential. It will tell what the ratio is...
Then you'll have to pull the axels and remove the differential. There are numbers on the ring gear that will tell me what the ratio is. Have you pulled it yet?
No, but you will have to block up the complete rear end on jack stands and remove the wheels. Once the wheels are removed you will see a large hole in the axel flange. You put a socket through the hole and remove 4 bolts on each side. This will allow you to pull the axels straight out. Then you remove the ring of bolts around the differential. Then you can remove the differential. On the large gear (the ring gear...) will be a series of numbers. In those numbers is the ratio.
