Thanks for the thought. I totally understand what you are saying. I had a thought that they would be locked to a VIN.

The 6.7 is a totally different animal than the 6.4. I think that H&S would have designed their tow tune to be safe pulling anything. I also have mine set up to defuel whenever it hits 23 psi or 1000°F on the post turbo thermocouple.

Anyone know hard it is to disable the DPF & EGR yourself? I would think in the MCC software you could load the actual tunes that come with the MM and then just go through them to delete them. I would be nice if MCC made it easy to disable all that crap.

you have to pull the DPF off, else it will clog if u turn off regen.

Yes I understand that but before I go about doing it, I just want to be sure there is a tune out there or a way I can custom tune it in MCC.

I'd be willing to do that if that's what I need. Are you using them?

OK. But don't say you wern't warned. FWIW the "tow" tune was renamed after the EPA agreement. Prior to that it was called "performance" or something like that. As I verified with them at the time no software settings were changed, just the name. Unless you have a "street" version or one for the 2014 trucks your tuner is the same as the one I sold after my truck was wrecked, which is the same one I blew a HG with right as it was defueling.

I guess I should also add that my trailer is near 17,000 lbs on the scale and the whole rig was just under 26,000 and it was August in Dixie and very hot the day I blew it. So maybe on a cooler day or a lighter trailer or a smaller hill I come out OK. Anyway, I just thought I'd mention it for someone who might find this thread researching a tuner decision.

I'm not, i have a old school tuner, I think mcc is fairly complicated, that's why I suggested just buying the tune if you can. I did buy my stuff through spe though, I would call them, they are very helpful.

I am running the MM street with the SPE hotX tune, deleted at 50k just after Xmas, I am now at 67k and doing fine, daily driver (yes 17k in 7 months). Just call SPE they will get you squared away.

Will do. Sounds like it should work awesome. Thanks for the info. How do you like their tunes compared to H&S's tunes?

There are numerous other companies that can provide you with a tune. I know one company that will even "modify" your tuner. PM for info.

This is the only tune I have run. I keep the defuel levels set at safe numbers and don't push it. The tune seems to be safe I know there are some other guys on here running the hotX tune, haven't seen anything bad yet.
