Angry converter problem

I just bought a 1994 f150 with 4.9 six cylinder and I am pretty sure the converter is pluged. Anyone know if I can get a hedder for it and what it will do to the way the motor runs.

Can you give us a little more info? What makes you think your cat is plugged and how is getting a header going to fix that?

Cats rarely "plug" - more often they simply stop functioning because of lead contamination, or the ceramic honeycomb substrate shatters from some impact. In the first situation, there's NO effect on the engine - only emissions. In the second, you can hear the pieces of ceramic rattling, especially if you tap the cat case with a rubber hammer. (Don't hit it hard or you could break a perfectly good cat.)

I think its pluged becouse of lack of power and it gets bright red when I drive the truck and it just seems like its way to hot. And instead of spending the money for a new cat I would rather buy a header.

If it gets bright red it means you have unburned fuel being sent down the exhaust pipe, which gets "catalyzed", or burned in the cat.

This is a very dangerous situation that can lead to a fire. Pull the codes and fix whatever is wrong with the ignition system.

Regards, Robert.
